Those people aren't actually libertarians. They use libertarian tropes when it suits their interests.
The same way populists like trump saying contradicting things not because they're stupid or crazy, but because different statements target different audiences.

you have people too stupid to understand that without market controls, the largest players dominate and abuse to stay that way
