Free Speech is the only public marketplace we need. Any limits for it are reminiscent of a totalitarian society. They are neither transparent nor free from deception, the only difference is who is deceiving you and how much you are happy to be deceived by them.

@EUCommission Cool, this is actually hinting at the kind of thing I'd like for all communication systems: a sort of "characteristics profile" or "description of behaviour, from the most local context (e.g. a single utterance in a Mastodon post) to most global (e.g. the entire Fediverse)".

The dream being for each Mastodon instance to have such a characteristics profile, which we may use to help us decide whether to join / leave an instance.
