I swear Trump could have no better ally than the Dems right now.
They are absolutely imploding and seem to have zero self awareness about it. They are cutting themselves apart. Project 2025 is nerf gun compared to what that Dem party is doing to itself and our future right now. Trump is not hard to beat, but the Dems are determined to fail.
Maybe we enter a dark age next and replace the dems, and then try to rebuild some institutions, but that's being stupidly optimistic.
Really there was no way to lose this post Roe. But it's just one thing after another.
@quinn So, tell me what, exactly, if you want. I'll read long or short, but I'll read it.
@quinn
Yep, it's day after day of watching in horror and disbelief. A jar of mayo should be +20 vs Trump at this point, let alone a real person with a heartbeat.

But one last plea.

Hey, Dems. So I'm old enough to remember Reagan's second term, the men had dementia. It was not subtle. If you know about dementia, you could see it on TV. But his second term was (to his people) a triumph
... From which the Dems have never recovered. This is because the president is not a emperor. he has a lot of people around him to help.

Now, do you want those people to be Stephen Miller and Kevin Roberts,
or Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg?

@quinn I'm also old enough to remember, and if you remember, then you should remember that Reagan also had a disastrous debate in which he appeared to be senile, but turned it around the next debate. It's a little too early to say that Biden has turned it around.

Republicans fall into lockstep goosestep. Democrats are herding cats.

Biden still needs to go. Nothing is going to change that. I don't want Elizabeth Warren "helping", I want her to be President. Same thing I've wanted since 2012.

@quinn Exactly. You'll never burn either party down. The best you can do is change them by finding the most flexible places. What happens, then is that both parties change to accommodate. They do. It really isn't at all like it was in the '90's, and it's worse now than it was in the teens. Change happens whether decent people are involved or not.
@quinn
Sadly agreed. I don't see a way there
@dymaxion yeah but you're also always setting yourself up to be pleasantly surprised, then immediately forget it when you are. 😝
@quinn
I'm ok with this lifestyle
@dymaxion idk, i get pretty depressed without hope.
@quinn
I think my hope is orthogonal to this β€” this is more just me being much better at looking forward than back.
@quinn Let's not rebuild the old institutions. Let's build new ones that are designed for the modern world -- and there's no need to wait for the old ones to collapse.
