When a thing lets you get far enough along, with hints that the next step will work, that curiosity makes you pursue it.
I know Arch is sometimes seen as a go-to for hacking something together. Instinctively I would think Puppy or similar more suited given that it has the tools for layering a read-write filesystem in RAM over a read-only filesystem (say a squashfs), with periodic write-back to a persistence file.
I still wouldn't be the one to try it though.
