@Guinnessy Car theft is essentially a solved problem: use cryptographic authentication of CAN frames and bury the hardware security module containing the private key so deep in the car that it takes very long to access it. Unfortunately, car companies don't seem very interested in implementing this. At the same time, they are heavily pushing keyless access methods that introduce new vulnerabilities.
