I mean it would make sense given that it's something portable yet unusual and that #Stargate #SG1 has a ton of COTS stuff being used as props and devices and for all intents amd purposes all it needs to do on camera is show either still images or play a video so it's not like it can't do both...

I mean the "Lucean Alliance Rifles" shown in #StargateUniverse are literally #Type97NSR which are legal semi-auto only variants of the chinese #Type95 rifle and most of #Stargate and it's spin-offs was filmed in #Canada by #MGM so it makes sense as a cheap gun that most people at the time didn't knew and espechally not in the #USA where it's illegal due to #AWB "Import Ban" being in effect to this day and #Norinco products in specific being illegal to import due to #sanctions...
