In Half Man, Ruben uses the nickname "Bambi" for Niall. Ruben is played by Richard Gadd, who created the series, and also created Baby Reindeer, which was the nickname for his character Donny in that series. Gadd also went beast mode for the role in Half Man, beefing up big time, so the baby reindeer/Bambi reference then ties Donny and Ruben together in the transformation from victim to aggressor.

A collection of fragments from the most recent ๐ต๐ท return.
Set to โVoltareiโ (I will return) since thatโs no longer a question of โifโ and barely even โwhen.โ Some loose thoughts and observations from being off the grid:
โข The island moves on island time. Itโs best to go along with it. The rush of the rest of the world is fake anyway.
โข A human touch is not only required, itโs the best way to accomplish pretty much anything, from ordering coffee to getting the most out of an experience. The โcontactlessnessโ of everything back home after COVID has degraded our social fabric.
โข Aquรญ se habla espaรฑol. But no worries if youโre not fluent like me. Just try.
โข Speaking of coffee: there is no Dunkin. Convenience coffee isnโt really a thing. Coffee after 2pm? Good luck. (Do you really need it?)
โข I feel accepted here. People donโt ignore you or pretend not to notice you. They acknowledge you and actually talk to you. I feel safer here. The social anxiety I carry back home just doesnโt exist here. Iโm not surprised, but I have definitely noticed.
โข Clocking out of work or school and going straight to the beach for the rest of the evening is a luxury that few back home can truly appreciate in all its depth.
โข The culture is alive in a way that it isnโt back home. The history is alive. You see it walking around, you walk over it, under it, through it, and into it. You feel it in the depths of the forest, at the tops of the mountains, and in the maze of the ancient streets.
