@knittingknots2 what's dishonestly left missing is this would be getting no traction if the candidates weren't so horririble
@TAI @[email protected] voting is a social responsibility. the op ed is repugnant no matter who the candidates are
@benroyce never understand the mentality the voting is like money that must be spent. Not spending it is a message, is a vote to demand a better product, to stop selling garbage

@TAI

100% bullshit

a vote is a move in a right direction

not voting means you're fine with things getting worse

you never wait until you get perfect, then you vote. it never ever works like that

the only way you get better candidates is to vote consistently, then people build off why people are voting and you get better next iteration

not voting is for the completely clueless or toxic perfectionists, who have no idea of their vote's worth or how things work, and they only make things worse

@benroyce bad sale

@TAI

It's not my responsibility to convince you to do your responsibility. You are merely defining the terms on how you are failing everything you care about, and you don't even understand how.

@benroyce i'd say the same of you, participating in something that in reality serves itself more than the people. Adding legitimacy to something that provides unacceptable choices

@TAI

of course it doesn't serve you. you don't participate

just amazing how that works, isn't it professor?

so let me just get this clear, what you believe: without any input from you, the world is just going to magically provide you with the perfect candidate, out of nowhere. and *THEN* you vote

without any feedback (a simple vote), what you want is just going to appear out of thin air on a silver platter?

a simple vote for *a direction* is beneath you. you want perfect up front

🤣 🤣 🤣

@benroyce these two choices meet your standards, others have better expectations. Calling it perfect is childish. But that matches your fools emojis at the conclusion

@TAI

Is it emotional for you? You expect politics to be like a romance? You want your heart to fill with passion when you vote?

It's a steering wheel. You steer in the direction you want. Or you don't. So someone else steers it to worse

That's it. That's the entire magic. You will never ever get better than that

Well... you could get a good direction and build on it iteratively to better

But you won't vote. So we get worse

What is it about the obvious that escapes you here?

@benroyce guess who thought like you, the GOP. and they lost their party to trump. What could be worse? people like you who cant adapt and lose the country to trump

@[email protected]

🤣🤣🤣

you just supported my point: MAGA shows up to vote. so they took over the GOP

you don't vote. so you get shitty centrist dems

do you understand?

if the left showed up to vote we could have 50 AOCs. but instead emotionally compromised toxic perfectionists go "I won't vote until get what I want." holy purity is more important than accepting the obvious, apparently

but they live here. it effects them. why do they feel it won't effect them?

i know why:

entitlement and privilege

@benroyce @TAI

Here's another thing .. even if you vote for a centrist Dem, there's the chance that in the future you can still make a change.

Everyone has been watching what the Reps are doing to voting rights.

If you don't vote .. there's a chance you'll never be able to make a change again.

You DON'T always get what you want in a democracy .. the goal is continuous improvement .. and to be able to stay in the game so that improvement is possible.

@cowboyminer @TAI

"No. Give me exactly what I want or I'm not playing."

🤦

@benroyce @TAI

 Exactly .. but that thinking is just another form of authoritarianism.
