Good morning & welcome to the Tory wipeout....

The good news (for me), my local Tory numpty has been removed....

the bad news: this was due to the Tory vote splitting - between them the Tories & Reform gained more votes than Labour.

My guess (without examine load of results) is this is not an uncommon story - which in itself is a cautionary issue, not least for 2029.

Also looks like tactical voting may have helped rid us of David Morris.

@ChrisMayLA6 Yeah, the split vote is the whole story in England. If you ignore the split, the vote share has barely changed for any party. Scotland and Wales are another matter.

@uoou

Yes, I see Reform came second in 89 seats, of which (the FT notes) most were where Labour won...

Its extraordinary that after 14 years, the Right albeit split across two parties can still retain this level of support..... looks more like Farage delivered the victory that Starmer won it, really

@ChrisMayLA6 Yeah, every election I wonder how bad the Tories (or Tories + Reform this time) have to get before people stop voting for them. I genuinely don’t get it, and I don’t mean that rhetorically, it’s an absolute fucking mystery to me.
