Is it condescending if someone refers to my desire to be paid in exchange for editing their (admittedly short, only 1,300 words) story as 'entrepeneurship'?

It ruffled my feathers slightly, but I think it's very possible I was just being oversensitive.

@sec_yote_agenda Uh, nah, labor is labor and you deserve to be paid for it.
@F74M3F0X Right, but I was asking whether calling it 'entrepreneurship' is condescending, versus simply recognizing that it's work that deserves compensation.
@sec_yote_agenda Oooooh, my b. Yea, I guess I kinda consider it condescending as 'entrepreneurship' to me implies the desire for business/profit. If they instead pointed out that u gotta eat, that'd not be condescending imo.
@F74M3F0X ...well, this is surplus income for me. I don't need it to eat, heh.
@sec_yote_agenda Well, fair, but I guess I still feel any labor deserves recognition and pay for it, regardless. X3 Even if it's a small side project, that still counts. And that fact can still exist and be outside of entrepreneurship, which I personally would take offense to if someone called an endeavor I wanted compensation for that. That's just my perspective, tho.
@F74M3F0X We're in agreement there. I guess to me 'entrepreneurship' sounded as though I'd found a clever way to make money, when I think anyone who's editing anything for anyone deserves some degree of compensation unless they do a terrible job.
@sec_yote_agenda Ye. :3 Continue the good work of recognizing ur value! ^^
@F74M3F0X ...I mean, again, to me it's obvious that editors deserve to be paid, not really a matter of recognizing my value in principle (one could argue it would apply to how much I charge though).
@sec_yote_agenda I wouldn't call it condescending. I'd call it disrespectful. I recognise that there's a need for community editing that doesn't cost fledgling authors money, but that doesn't mean a professional shouldn't charge for their expertise. If the person doesn't want to pay, then they can look elsewhere. No need to be shitty about it.
@Kandrel TBF, they weren't shitty at all other than their using that term, which they very possibly didn't realize sounded a bit potentially condescending.
