@protonprivacy When you add a Standard Notes android widget and IMAP accounts in Proton Mail app I'm ditching... everything else LoL
@Smootasaurus @protonprivacy you could use Easy Switch on the web app and add an IMAP account.
@protonprivacy right on time to replace Skiff Pages. Go team!
@protonprivacy Can collaborators join without creating an account?
@forteller @protonprivacy I’d also like to know this. And if they can collaborate (edit) and/or add comments for free (whether or not they have to make an account).

@Brendanjones @forteller Hi! Docs is available to all Proton users, including free accounts.

Collaborators will need a Proton account and the email invitation includes a link to the Proton sign-up page. We do support signing up for Drive accounts with an external email address too.

@protonprivacy @Brendanjones Yeah, well, people will keep using Google docs then. Really too bad, I've been looking for a good alternative for ages. What you're offering here is the same as Zoho has had forever. And I haven't used it. Guess why. Thanks for the reply! Hope you change your mind, we need people to get away from Google as much as possible.
@protonprivacy Really nice! Any word on when Standard Notes is taken up? Still using the free version but would like to know if I need to pay for premium or not late, with the premium proton account I use.
@protonprivacy Hey there, is it only for text documents or are there plans to also have spreadsheets and presentations?
@larusargentatus Hi António! Spreadsheets and presentations are on our to-do list. Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates!
@protonprivacy That is an awesome news! Very useful feature. Solves one of my workflows for doing secure notes/writings easily.

@protonprivacy
excellent !

however, is there spreadsheets options?

@zetabeta @protonprivacy Not yet, but “Everything that Google’s got is on our roadmap,” - Proton PR manager Will Moore.

Proton Docs is a privacy-focused answer to Google Docs and Microsoft Word

Docs adds to Proton’s offering of work tools, which also includes Drive, Calendar, Mail, and a VPN. Proton has become a successful alternative to both Google and Office.

@protonprivacy Congrats! Now can you please, please, please put out a ProtonDrive for Linux? I love you all, but Jesus
@sergiopantalone @protonprivacy Yes, this please, but Proton doesn't care of Linux. Their VPN client is just a marketing asset, nothing more, it's actually not even a GNU/Linux client, but a GNOME/Linux one, according to their support team.
@protonprivacy Yesterday you introduced Photo backup for iOS, today marks the start of shared office services.
It's like you just took the survey I filled out 2 months ago, turned it into a to-do list and went to town.
@protonprivacy Hey, is it possible to make public folders, where anyone can read/write stuff, from a personnal drive ?
@ck0 Not at this time, but we'll pass your interest in this along to the team.
@protonprivacy The goal is to be able to promote it as a replacement of GDrive, for not-lucrative orgs like local associations.
@protonprivacy Fantastic! What document types are supported? And do you/will you have an import tool for Google Docs? That’d make it very easy to switch over to Proton Docs.
@Brendanjones @protonprivacy If you mean exports, you can currently download your note in docx, html, txt and markdown, which is nice.
@gavin57 @protonprivacy cool. What format do they run on/ are they saved in?
@Brendanjones @gavin57 You can import .txt and .docx formats and export as .pdf, .txt, .md, and .html, as well as .txt and .docx.
@Brendanjones
As Docs is based on StandardNotes I'm pretty sure the native format will be markdown.
@gavin57 @protonprivacy
@protonprivacy How do I actually create a document in the web app? All options I can see relate to uploading. It is cumbersome to have to upload a document to start editing it with others
@protonprivacy Also .odt doesn't work. What formats does?

@Venefilyn You can import and edit .txt / .docx and export in other formats like .pdf, .txt, .md, and .html, as well as .txt and .docx. .odt is not yet supported.

To create a new document, simply open the Proton Drive web app, and click on "New" in the top left corner. You will see the option for a "New document".

@protonprivacy Ah the webapp was just a bit slow on the update. It's there now, thanks!
@Venefilyn We are gradually rolling this out, so not all users are seeing it at the moment. Everyone should have access to it by the end of the day tomorrow.
@protonprivacy
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
@protonprivacy Was just thinking about that the other day, if you now add spreadsheets im completely switching :)
@protonprivacy awesome addition! I hope it supports OpenDocument formats
@protonprivacy roh ça, c'est du plaisir :), enfin je vais pouvoir dégager mes docs de google docs. Plus que les formulaires et je pourrais faire une transition complête et avoir mon compte google juste pour mes chaines YouTube xD
@protonprivacy can my friends/colleagues access proton docs without an account if i share with my proton account? This would be a big barrier for it if this isn't the case.
@lohlund Hi! Collaborators will need a Proton account, and the email invitation includes a link to the Proton sign-up page. We do support signing up for Drive accounts with external email addresses too.
@protonprivacy Thanks for the reply. I would really appreciate an update so that people without an account can access it if shared from someone with an account. This would probably increase user numbers if you do this.
@lohlund Thank you for the suggestion!
@protonprivacy
As a writer of adult and other controversial content: thank you.
@protonprivacy This is awesome! Will StandardNotes note taking application become part of proton suite at some point?

@aria

Judging from how they implemented simplelogin, this will probably just be integrated but also be available as a separate thing.

@protonprivacy Is it a forked Docs software or did you make it from scratch?
@protonprivacy This is another outstanding addition to the Proton quiver. I'm personally really hoping for this functionality, but with spreadsheets.

@protonprivacy
The document editor looks a bit bare bones. I think if y'all had gone the nextcloud office route and used the colabora engine, that might have been a bit better.

You may have had to do a fork or something to still keep all the encryption requirements but I think that probably would have made it easier. The current version to me looks more like a markdown editor than a full-on word processor. Still though, I am happy that you are giving an alternative to Google ecosystem.

@protonprivacy That's good news! Can we expect the ability to buy extra storage soon without being required to change our current plan?
@protonprivacy This is phenomenal. Are there plans for a plaintext/markdown mode?
@protonprivacy Why only Microsoft data formats? What about the Open Document Format?
@protonprivacy Seems theres a new update in proton?
@protonprivacy unfortunately i can't see the new create actions i need the desktop app or is this also working in the web version ?
@mari It's being rolled out gradually, so not all users have access yet. You will have access to it in the next couple of days at the latest.
