I’ve never grown bell peppers indoors before. Do I need to pollinate the plant myself? The flowers keep turning brown and falling off instead of becoming peppers. #gardening #gardenquestion
@wldmtngoat disclaimer: not an expert here 🙂 Peppers are self-pollinating, each flower has everything needed to produce peppers, but they need some help, a bit of movement, like the one caused by some air current or some insect, can be enough. If no air current or insect is available, try yourself, yes.
Apart of missing pollination, I have seen peppers and tomatoes losing their flowers because of extreme temperatures or overwatering.
Good luck!
@jsoriano really virtually no air current or insect activity. Could be overwatering, having never grown them indoors before I might be misjudging watering.

Yes. Wiggle your finger in the flower or, if you have more than one, collect pollen on a cotton swab from one and swirl it around in the flower of another. Otherwise, without bees doing it for you, nothing happens.
