On Thursday July 11, Trump will receive his sentence for being the criminal mastermind behind the crimes, for which his henchman Michael Cohen served three years in prison.

Four days later, on July 15, is the Republican National Convention, where they will nominate Trump as the Republican presidential candidate.

We are in for an explosive month in US politics.

@randahl The big question being, is there any rule against a president being in service while serving a jail sentence? Because trust me, the GOP will bend itself backwards to let it happen

@csolisr @randahl

Of course Trump will pardon himself. I don't think that should be possible and it sounds like a perversion of the power of pardon, but that's not going to stop him, and this SCOTUS will probably allow it.

@randahl @mcv And that's where the issue lays - will he be able to swear in as president to begin with? Because if not, he won't be legally able to pardon himself
