After something of a hiatus, I am back at the keyboard and have published another column. This week I tackle the growing challenge of terminating underperforming employees. A topic that is too little discussed but, if left attended, increases risk, degrades performance, and drives top employees out of the organisation as they feel poor performance is not being properly managed.

@duncanhart Performance is very much a function of the systems in which people find themselves. Why I am so keen on reforming systems. However, I would add that it is not always the system โ€” people have agency.
@robert Regarding agency In theory โ€˜yes' although in practice โ€˜not alwaysโ€™. Gregory Bateson's Double Bind is alive and well in numerous corporate settings.
