I was wondering when they would start to figure out that maybe it’s a bad idea for the government to get between people and their doctors.

“Getting between people and doctors” is maybe the wrong wording, that’s the excuse snake oil salesmen use.

Please, some call it that. It was, yes, technically “the president” at the time, but we don’t have to call it that anymore, or ever again — even when referring to that (not brief enough) period in history.
