Been out of the loop for the last few days after a sore knee turned into a swollen lower leg, which then started breaking out in angry looking bruises.
Got referred to the local hospital for possible Deep Vein Thrombosis and blood tests suggested there may be a clot there, had to go back the next day for an ultrasound scan...which found absolutely nothing. So, phew, I don't have DVT but, ouch, I've still got a sore knee and a swollen and bruised lower leg.
@nicecuppatea yay but boo. Yay for no DVT, Boo for sore and swelling and bruises.
Any news on cause?
@spoonrefuter No, the scan showed no sign of infection or clots, only thing that sort of fits now is Bursitis.
They've given me some anti-inflammatories and referred me back to my GP, who I miraculously managed to a) book an urgent appointment with b) which was even on the same day that I called. I nearly fainted in shock.
@lnr Feels a little better today, knee's been sore for a couple of weeks now, but I did some gardening on Friday and that seemed to set things off badly.
Looking up Bursitis, it doesn't really fit either, that's the front of the knee, mine hurts at the back and my calf is really tender.

Mine apparently (after 84 days of iron tablets) now has normal levels of iron in it at least. But I have a really annoying insect bite. Thankfully neither of these issues gave been scary enough for A&E!
@lnr I noticed when I was in Boots picking up my prescription that they cover infected insect bites in their new consultation service thing, so might be worth a try.
Think I've still got the scars from last year's Mosquito feast on my ankles, annoying little bastards, they could have the blood if they didn't leave you with an itch that never quits.
