There are “no links whatsoever between the offshore wind development activity and especially the humpback whale mortalities. None. Zero.” But oil & gas & shipping interests sure want you to think wind energy is what's killing whales https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/whales-are-dying-but-not-from-offshore-wind/
Whales Are Dying but Not from Offshore Wind

Politicians and nonprofit groups have blamed offshore wind turbines for whale deaths, but the science doesn’t support those claims—at all

@laurahelmuth we're looking for something else to blame, because oil spills aren't that common

@laurahelmuth "Ahem"

Allow me to steer the story back to how many birds are killed by windmills, without mentioning Mega Farm Corp.

@corpomancer @laurahelmuth Nothing kills birds like people not keeping their cats in, but the same people eagerly go after green energy...
@laurahelmuth @Ruth_Mottram Now check the impact of seismic exploration ships on marine life. Weeks of massive booms in a small area.
@laurahelmuth Wait.. why would offshore wind have anything to do with whale deaths? I'm not sure I understand the logical leap they're intending folks to take.. I mean, I get that this is a “it's totally not us, it's, uh.. that thing over there that's new” mentality, but .. huh?

@laurahelmuth even supposing they were harmful, which they’re not, the solution is to place them on dry land.

(The turbines, not the whales)
