Came across this cool little science experiment relating to Hoverflies run out of University of Sussex.
Where you create a tiny pond, using milk cartons, in the hope that some hoverfly larvae grow in them, you tip and count them each month and you, hopefully, get more hoverflies in your garden. A win-win!
