I've been practicing Transcendental Meditation for 2 weeks now. Twice a day for a minimum of 10 minutes each time and slowly working my way to 20 minute sessions.
By meditating and training myself to recognize thoughts as thoughts, I've been able to stop the negative thinking within seconds and it's given me the mental space to be less reactionary when dealing with others.
I feel more compassionate, patient, empathetic, and at peace then I have in a long time.
I think I'll keep this up.
