Andor really feels like a gritty nazi occupation resistance story, and absolutely nails this aspect of the Empire — secret police, collaborators, informants, concentration camps and all. Which makes it all the more disappointing to move on to the next show on my list to see them back to being portrayed as Disney-fied kooky frowny magic users strutting around in capes. I think Andor has given me a whole new appreciation of the setting that deserves much more exploration than we're getting
@stroughtonsmith Andor is the thing I've wanted from Star Wars ever since walking out of The Phantom Menace and realizing I had expected something entirely different.
@stroughtonsmith Not a Star Wars fan at all but I hugely enjoyed Andor
@stroughtonsmith first Star Wars show with competent bad guys! Loved it.
@stroughtonsmith It’s such a great backdrop for Le Carré-esque espionage thrillers. Seems so odd, now that we’ve seen one, that this wasn’t always the standard genre.
@stroughtonsmith best description I’ve had for Andor is that it’s Star Wars for the generation that grew up on Star Wars, for the grown ups basically - I’m mostly tolerating Acolyte / Ashoka etc, my kids have no interest 🤷‍♂️
@stroughtonsmith A character drama about resisting the slow crush of systemic oppression vs absolute scooby doo shit.
@stroughtonsmith The portrayal of the Empire bureaucracy as petty, self-serving and not very smart was good too
@stroughtonsmith IMHO, Andor and Rogue One are the best Star Wars products in the last 20 years.
@stroughtonsmith I agree with this 100%. It’s a gripping spy thriller, just set in Star Wars, and the cast is tremendously good.

@stroughtonsmith Andor was wonderful & I hope we get more like it, but at its heart, Star Wars was meant for kids.

Given that, I am sure there is a balancing act in trying to satisfy that core demographic and the adult interests. I'm guessing there is some middle ground, but the talent required to find it & maintain it would be a lot 😃

@billvinson @stroughtonsmith Right, but there's a difference between FOR kids and WRITTEN by a kid.
