Today's project was supposed to be pulling the old dishwasher out, measuring the recess so I could put in an OSB platform as a levelling fix (the tiling does not run under the cabinets) until we redo the kitchen, and get the new dishwasher installed.

Since it looks like the previous dishwasher was put in place and then tiled and cabineted around, it's going to be a LOT more complicated.

Mr. Ryn is fine with bringing someone in to take a look. I am over here bristling because this is completely within my skillset as individual parts. It's trying to figure out the order for this particular level of bullshittery that's thwarting me.

That and the entire kitchen is contractor grade and I just want to order a pallet of birch ply and some iron on veneer and make something that's not gross MDF (which has its place, but not in the heart of the house).

What I'm tempted to do is grind out the grout for the tile (salvage if possible, if (...)

not, then make somethin' pretty) and remove the tile in the way.

But if that's the plan, then I want to have all the supplies sorted so I can just start it and have everything I need to get it done in one go. There will, of course, be a trip or two to the hardware store because that's how it goes, but not having to completely screw around over and over would be great.

But now I have an oscillating multitool and that's going to be handy for other projects... After I replace the blades that I went through (I didn't catch that I was using the wood/plastic blade so that got crunched. Then when I switched to the metal one, it did its job.)

So I think instead of sitting here seething about my lack of success, I'm going to cut out the pieces for the prototyping for my next dress. Okay, maybe 10 more minutes of seething.

Okay, slightly less cranky now. I've gotten a few wins under my belt for today.

The various bodice options have been cut out for my next dress (so I can decide which one I like best for general wear and determine if the zipper location change to under the arm will be fine). I might even get some sewing done on that tonight. If not, I'll draft the circle skirt. #sewing

I also got the new mattress on my office daybed and will be able to decide if it's a good firmness for a replacement for our bed (because right now, that bed is like sleeping on pudding in the least fun way imaginable).

This week's overarching project will be determining what tools and supplies will be needed for Plan C of the dishwasher installation. #homeimprovement

I should sleep like the recently dead tonight. For not having much to show for it, I've done a lot today. I have also realised that I really need to kanban my to-do list.
