Just happened upon this old blog post http://www.mcqn.net/mcfilter/archives/torino/here_today_gone_tomorrow.html which starts with "Well, the mammoth bike tour is over"

That was ~200 miles of cycle touring spread over almost two weeks round Italy, which was awesome.

However, tomorrow a bunch of us will be heading up to Carlisle and then riding 100 miles to Edinburgh in *a single night*

Admittedly I won't have ~30kg of tent on the back of the bike, but I think it's some sort of fitness progress 😀

McFilter: Here Today. Gone Tomorrow

@amcewen that path (of ever longer bike rides) goes a long way!

I peeked at 250 mile ride in one go back in 2009 (https://nicksellen.co.uk/2009/06/24/track-my-cycling-progress), I damaged my knee doing that though, the last 70 miles quite painful. I just pushed through it, wouldn't do that now.

I have since gone back to 30-50 miles a day generally on trips now, with long slow morning, long slow lunch, relaxed early evening :)

Still quite satisfying to do long rides though.

@nick 250 miles in one go is quite something!

30-50 miles in a day is pretty routine for me now, but you're right - I'm looking forward to something more of a stretch tomorrow!
