I still think it's insane companies will pump millions into a game, then cancel it and it never sees the light of day.

This is why I love open source. If you move on from it, someone else has the chance to still use it.

@gamingonlinux This actually shocked me. To put all of that money into LWY and then cancel it after they kept delaying it seems like throwing money out the window...
@cameronbosch @gamingonlinux is it tax write-offs or something?

@oblomov @cameronbosch @gamingonlinux I think it's more worried about having a studio pull a Duke Nukem Forever - or a Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Either a game that takes 14 years to release, or a game that ends up taking so long it has to be renamed to make it marketable because of the development time.

@gamingonlinux given how paradox has been on a slash and cancel tear lately it wouldn't at all shock me if a lot of their products get cancelled. Even recently released ones or ones that have a lot of bugs
@gamingonlinux Not even letting another team give it a go... just... slapping it into a box and forcing everyone that worked on the project to feign ignorance that it ever happened. That's why I loathe NDAs
But still there's a lot of open source projects that are dead
@box_yld @gamingonlinux That's how it goes sometimes, alas. Plenty of worthy open source projects out there that are dead, or all-but dead.
