Headline: The Christian Right is coming for divorce next:

OOH - Of course they are.

OTOH - time to embrace the tenets of Adrienne Rich's anti-comp het classic essay (*Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence*) and reject marriage, period. (as well as childbearing and financial dependence on cishet men.)

The Christian right is coming for divorce next

Some conservatives want to make it a lot harder to dissolve a marriage.

Everything about Christian fascists is about trapping someone in a situation they don't want.

Their whole vibe is predatory, abusive, oppressive, and anti-liberatory.

Don't wanna be pregnant -- for any reason? Too bad. We're forcing you to give birth.

Don't want to be married to your jerk of a spouse? Too bad, suck it up, bucko. You married her - she's yours .... FOREVER.

Don't want to live life as the wrong gender? LOL, jokes on you, there are only 2 genders and you already have one.

Ugh. These people.

The Christian Right is just full of effing horrible people who should never be allowed to have power over anyone. Period.

@DeliaChristina Oh, I am sure that if you are a man with a troublesome wife, the Christian Fascist community will find a way for you to be rid of her: convent, insane asylum, et cetera.

@jbhughes

You're right.
Getting rid of no fault divorce will absolutely allow the pendulum to swing back toward 'wives as property'. If a spouse is trapped in a marriage, with very little recourse, what else are they subject to?

I think about my sister who divorced her very Catholic husband when she came out.

He was livid. He tried to get the court to deem her mentally unfit because she was a lesbian.

I laughed in his face.
You know you're in CA, right, I said. And it's the 21st century.

He's still mad about it.

@DeliaChristina @jbhughes wooooow. I wish I could still be surprised by this
