Getting rid of no fault divorce will absolutely allow the pendulum to swing back toward 'wives as property'. If a spouse is trapped in a marriage, with very little recourse, what else are they subject to?
I think about my sister who divorced her very Catholic husband when she came out.
He was livid. He tried to get the court to deem her mentally unfit because she was a lesbian.
I laughed in his face.
You know you're in CA, right, I said. And it's the 21st century.
He's still mad about it.

I think I read somewhere that the folks who have historically been put under conservatorship have been women and disabled folks.
@DeliaChristina This sort of mindset is so insidious, like it refuses to believe that even "making something optional" isn't really secretly "forcing people into camps".
I recall a few years back some company business-wear dress codes were working on making heels _optional_ for female employees. Cue conservatives swooping in, screeching that "THE FEMINAZIS ARE FORCING ALL WOMEN INTO BIRKENSTOCKS, AS A GATEWAY INTO LESBIANISM!!!"
They just view everything in terms of coercion.
I find interesting the moral panic that ensues when swathes of women take themselves 'off the market', so to speak.
