Sadly I still need some help getting to a more stable living situation. My partner @nat and I have found some apartments in our price range but the down-payment is too large for us to afford right now.
We both have mediocre credit scores, so we'll end up spending more on rent OR have to show savings on hand.

tl:dr; My finances got wrecked during a divorce and child custody nightmare. I eventually got behind on rent (after spending nearly $60k due to family court) and naturally my landlord went rapidly toward stalking, harassing and threatening me into self evicting.
He especially ranted to no end about my volunteering with homeless mutual aid groups and publishing a talk a DEFCON about police oversight.

UPDATE:
We found an apartment and got approved, we are about ready to sign the lease and need to fund-raise a little more to make sure we don't drain all of our savings on moving costs & apartment fees.
We were gifted a 90's 2 seater car which runs great but needs a new alternator and ultimately we need to sell/trade it in for a four seater. I think I can get the car back on the road for ~$300 plus a weekend of wrenching.

Getting close to be able to replace our cars alternator. If we raise another $200 we'll have a working car soon. Getting a car has enabled us to move to a more affordable part of town but it's been a bit unreliable due to the battery not charging.

In other news a friend loaned us $3k, which covered the application fees thoughout our housing hunt and should cover first/last/deposit. Donations go towards paying back our generous comrade and future legal action against our previous abusive landlord.
