Day 1 of 5 days off work.

Today is going to make progress in doing house things (lots of prep done last night, so go me). I've shopping to do for fun things and I might, maybe, go out for dinner. Local pub restaurant does bao buns. I fucking love bao buns.

@intheseheels ooo, bao buns. I was pleasantly surprised how good Lidl’s are

@witewulf @intheseheels

Maybe I'm just not looking. I don't remember seeing these in any of the Lidls around my area. I shall keep an eye out next time that I'm in the one that is two towns away, which I know carries some different stuff to the ones in the nearby big city.

#Lidl

@JdeBP @witewulf ooooh thanks, I hope I can get some. I'm going today for goats cheese wrapped in bacon, and possibly a tomahawk steak!

(Added the warning cos steak. I actually hate it and hate seeing photos of it but my partner adores it so I wouldn't begrudge him. And vegans exist so I try to be sensitive.)

@intheseheels @witewulf

Like the person who commented a few months ago about how great the range was in #Lidl in Spain, you are going to make me sad about how the ranges in my regular-use supermarkets have shrunk since we left the Single Market and instituted food border controls. Especially fresh uncooked things.

Because I'm now going to see whether any of my regular Lidls have any of this.

@JdeBP @intheseheels to be fair, we haven't had them since Christmas, so they have been "party food”. They come in packs of 9 or so, wrapped in cling film, that you put straight in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.

@witewulf @intheseheels

The one mitigating factor of that sort of thing, at least around my neck of the woods, is that about 1 month after Christmas the #Lidl managers cycle all of the remaining stock of party food through the offers shelves.

I shall keep an eye out nonetheless, as sometimes the "party" items, like Deluxe potato gratins, come around at odd intervals during the rest of the year.

@JdeBP @witewulf I did not find bao buns but I did find a lot of goats cheese and spent £38 on steak.
