Day 1 of 5 days off work.

Today is going to make progress in doing house things (lots of prep done last night, so go me). I've shopping to do for fun things and I might, maybe, go out for dinner. Local pub restaurant does bao buns. I fucking love bao buns.

Day 1 -5 off work. Got rid of some old furniture and took delivery of some new stuff.

Photos say it all really.

Day 2 of 5 off work. Still had to get up at my usual time to make sure the son is up. He's still not getting out of bed. Starting the day off on the wrong foot here.

Can't decide what to do with the morning, but this evening I'm going to Bowling For Soup gig with a pal.

Day 2 of 5 off work. Made ramen. Walked dogs. Had more icecream. Going to a gig.

Day 3 of 5 off work.

Slept well, which is weird cos I went to bed hungry and with a sore knee was I was expecting a bad night. Up at usual time to make sure son was up.

New shoes have just been delivered.

Unsure what the rest of the day is. Might just chill instead of going out for lunch/dinner.

Day 3 of 5 off work.

Moved the second to last piece of furniture. One more to go then new desk building. I should be finished before I need to log on Monday AM...

Didnt do anything else today. Debated going out for dinner and or drinks but no one wanted to put proper outside clothes on.

I suggested ice-cream and Jamie wants a Mr Whippy so we might venture out but then it's bedtime.

Day 4 of 5 off work. Yes I'm counting the weekend cos I often work Saturdays. In fact I'm supposed to be working but swapped with someone for last week to help them out. Worked out better for me!

No photos from yesterday. Dinner was a takeaway burger and yes, I had another ice-cream slider because the miserable rain put us off getting Mr Whippy.

Today is laundry day and being ruthless throwing unneeded crap out. I struggle with this bit #Hoarder. Should also take shoes to the chazza.

Day 4 of 5 off work. The new desk is BUILT. With a monitor and keyboard and everything already on it.

Theres a huge box full of polystyrene lying in the middle of the floor now. And I have yet to hoover. But I just ate too much Chinese and I might boke if I tried to fix it now.

Just me and the dogs at home tonight, and there's a bottle of bubbles in the fridge, but right now I'm too full up to consider it.

Day 5 of 5 off work. Knee is properly wrecked now. Did too much yesterday with desk building and other stuff. Plans don't exist today, I'm probably not going to leave the house if I can help it.

Slept reasonably, though it was 2.30am before we went to sleep after watching R.I.P.D (I love Jeff Bridges).

Will I be rested going back to work tomorrow? Probably not.

Was it a good idea taking 5 days off? No, cos now I don't want to continue working 5-6 days every week. Work/Life balance is wrong

Day 5 of 5 off work. There's no ice-cream left, it was given to Jamie's niece. Definitely getting Mr Whippy tonight.

Just bought a car. NBD.

For context, I can't drive yet. But this was a bargain and I had the money and Jamie's closer to getting his licence than I am so I just bought it.

Messaged the man about it at 1.09, by 1.44 the keys were mine and I had already taken a selfie in it.

@intheseheels That was impulsive! Do you have to leave it at the seller's until one of you passes your test?
@intheseheels Maybe we'll get that brunch in The Dairy some time!
Day 5 of 5 off work. Dog walk took a turn.
@intheseheels Gotta make the most of summer when it’s here 🍻

@shezza_t Jamie called from work. He'd been left off by his mate after checking out the car. Hadn't called by his house to lift the keys for work. So I had to come get them and walk up with them so he could lock up.

The pub is 3 mins away and dogs are welcome. I had a thirst after walking to him. It made sense.

Day 5 of 5 off work.

It's bedtime. Back to the grind at 930, at least it's work from home.

Last of the pints too, as diet starts tomorrow (need to try avoid IBS triggers so beer is out).

Knee is Not Happy.

I bought a car.

Things are alright.

@intheseheels ah, funnily enough that turned up as the Framed quiz today. Was it any good? Looked interesting from the stills. Kinda like Shadowrun/Bright meets Wild West?
@witewulf it's not great lol but I enjoy it. It's a bit Men In Black but not with aliens.
@intheseheels similar here. Me and the cats just, put up some pictures and spent the day watching bad Sci fi and eating too much takeaway for dinner
@ironmajic that sounds perfect. What sci-fi did you watch?
@intheseheels dune part 2, and working through Rebel Moon right now. The first was disappointing, the latter looks like a late 90s, early 00s TV programme. Wife is away to Take That so I've had the afternoon to myself until I pick her up around 115 tonight
@intheseheels New desk here too!
@BenCotterill nice set up! Love the accessories on the left of pic lol. I can't decide if I want my monitor on the shelf or not, I do t like how it overhangs.
@intheseheels if it helps, ergonomically, the top of the monitor should be level with your eyes to avoid neck strain
@witewulf it is adjustable so that won't be a problem wherever it sits. First day working at it tomorrow so I'll see how it all feels.
@intheseheels I would say that as you work from home you should have had a workplace assessment done by your H&S rep, but I suspect I’d be able to hear laughing from here 😀
@witewulf we had to send a photo at the beginning but this new desk won't prompt a new photo request. Even though work paid for it lol. I think it's fine though. Ample space and I'm using a proper chair.

@intheseheels

Does King Charles not have enough shoes?

Will yours fit him?

(-:

#shoes

@JdeBP you think he wears a size 3?

@intheseheels

An important question to which I do not know the answer.

I am just assuming heels, without checking, by the way. (-:

<click, click>

Oh good grief! It turns out that I can look up #KingCharles3 's shoe size on-line with Bing and he is a size 44.

#shoes

@JdeBP they are indeed heels, of which I have many 😂.

But yeah, he's not getting a 44 into my 36s!!

Why is that information on the internet?? Is it official or have people used technology to scale his feet and guess?

@intheseheels

I couldn't trace the source from the site that Bing took the answer that it put at the top from.

But it turns out that we live in the 17th century and what shoes the king wears is a Massively Important Thing, covered by Town&Country, the Daily Express, GQ, the Northamptonshire Telegraph, Footwear News, …

… and not forgetting all of the shoe vendors who want to sell us shoes just like those that the king wears.

#shoes #journalism

@intheseheels Good luck with the clear out. You can do this 💪
@shezza_t I can't... Poorly knee is badly impeding progress.
@intheseheels You can. Even if it’s just deciding what’s going out, and corralling it in one spot (or making a list) until your knee is happier.
@intheseheels We went out for lunch yesterday, and then went to IKEA for boring house organising stuff. Tomorrow is my day at Mum’s, so today is a lazy day.
@intheseheels PS: The Dairy was fab, even if we were minutes too late for the breakfast menu OpGeek fancied. I had their beef tacos with pickled onion and crispy onion. Messy, and delicious.
@shezza_t @intheseheels That looks delicious. Where is it from?

@seanddotmedotuk The Dairy at Gleno. And they were delicious -a real Co. Antrim amount of beef filling.

@intheseheels

@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk it looks delicious! I've never been there but heard good things. Hard to get to if you don't drive
@shezza_t I hope the weather is better tomorrow for mum's! It's been miserable here

@intheseheels It’s a fine line: if the weather is too good, there’s a risk of gardening ;)

Anyway, there’s a wee hint of blue in the sky here now. Might be heading your way.

@intheseheels

I had a @johnflomax -inspired Task ready to go, which should have given you 1 whole minute of poor substitute fun.

But @lindasgoluppiart went and posted a *proper* Task today. (-:

#SlowLife

@intheseheels I had to look up what that was when you mentioned it yesterday. I thought it sounded like a charity event.
@seanddotmedotuk ha! They are not my normal type of music, but friends are going and I've spare time! Sure why not. I enjoy live music, and good craic. I've never been to a gig at the telegraph building before.
@intheseheels It won't surprise you that I haven't been at a gig there either!
@intheseheels ooo, bao buns. I was pleasantly surprised how good Lidl’s are

@witewulf @intheseheels

Maybe I'm just not looking. I don't remember seeing these in any of the Lidls around my area. I shall keep an eye out next time that I'm in the one that is two towns away, which I know carries some different stuff to the ones in the nearby big city.

#Lidl

@JdeBP @witewulf ooooh thanks, I hope I can get some. I'm going today for goats cheese wrapped in bacon, and possibly a tomahawk steak!

(Added the warning cos steak. I actually hate it and hate seeing photos of it but my partner adores it so I wouldn't begrudge him. And vegans exist so I try to be sensitive.)

@intheseheels @witewulf

Like the person who commented a few months ago about how great the range was in #Lidl in Spain, you are going to make me sad about how the ranges in my regular-use supermarkets have shrunk since we left the Single Market and instituted food border controls. Especially fresh uncooked things.

Because I'm now going to see whether any of my regular Lidls have any of this.

@JdeBP @intheseheels to be fair, we haven't had them since Christmas, so they have been "party food”. They come in packs of 9 or so, wrapped in cling film, that you put straight in the microwave for 2-3 minutes.

@witewulf @intheseheels

The one mitigating factor of that sort of thing, at least around my neck of the woods, is that about 1 month after Christmas the #Lidl managers cycle all of the remaining stock of party food through the offers shelves.

I shall keep an eye out nonetheless, as sometimes the "party" items, like Deluxe potato gratins, come around at odd intervals during the rest of the year.

@JdeBP @witewulf I did not find bao buns but I did find a lot of goats cheese and spent £38 on steak.
