Well now I can finally share - I just started my first day as a federal scientist at NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory.

I'll be continuing research on improving our understanding of climate prediction and projection, especially with data-driven approaches for high-impact extremes.

I am so thankful for a network of support from family, friends, and mentors that helped me achieve my childhood dream (as a weather nerd) in wanting to work at NOAA.

And I hope I can help others navigate this often confusing world of science/academia to reach their goals too.

Thank you all! I don't have a chance to reply to all of your messages, but I read them and really appreciate your kinds words and support! πŸ₯°
@ZLabe congratulations Zack; Cheers!
@ZLabe that's awesome, congratulations!!!
@ZLabe congratulations, I hope your career goes from strength to strength and you never loose the curiosity you had as a child as that is what drives good science

@ZLabe

Congratulations. I look forward to the fruits of your endeavors.

@ZLabe

Congratulations Zack! Well deserved!

@ZLabe @steve Congratulations! And thanks for sharing data with us here!

@ZLabe

Good on you Zack! I have followed you for a good while and I'm excited to see your career Bloom even more.

@ZLabe Congratulations!! One of the best uses for supercomputers I can think of!

@ZLabe Congrats! I dunno if this is a kind of thing NOAA would work on, but one need you might be interested in is realistic weather data at spatial and temporal scales appropriate for electricity system planning -- when both energy supply and energy demand are largely driven by weather, it gets complicated! This report was a great overview.

Weather Data for Power System Planning - ESIG

The increasing weather-dependence of supply and demand is making power system planning dramatically more complex and in need of much more comprehensive weather data for robust system planning. The electricity […]

@ZLabe

That's so awesome! Congrats, you deserve it!

@ZLabe congratulations and thank you for your work! ❀️, a random person at NASA working towards green energy :)
@ZLabe congrats!!! You're an inspiration to young future scientists everywhere πŸ˜€
