Is it just me or is the new #DoctorWho overly Disney-fied and Americanised?

I really wanted to like it, but I just can't get there, it's so syrupy and musical.

@keira_reckons Boom does not feel disneyfied at all
@zperk13 o haven't gotten that far yet. I'll hold on a little longer then
@keira_reckons So I'm guessing you've seen Space Babies and The Devil's Chord, and I see where you got your take from. The next episode, Boom, is by Stephen Moffat and is great. Then 73 yards, which is kinda like Midnight. Then Dot and Bubble which feels like a below average season 1 or 3 episode until the end which is great. Then Rouge which is a mediocre episode in terms of villain and stuff but we get a great Jack Harkness-like character
@zperk13 I appreciate knowing it's not ruined, thanks!
@keira_reckons I found episodes 1 and 2 really meh… 3, 4 and 7 more whoesque and 5 and 6 in between (an impression of déjà-vu). But yeah, overall, very Disney. Even the music in the opening credits sounds weird.
@keira_reckons The latest monster looked a bit cartoony compared to his 1975 incarnation, and Iʼm not a fan of the musical numbers. In 'Dot and Bubble', Ruby refers to 10 ft. I doubt someone her age would say that, and surely Americans are smart enough to figure out metric?
