Who up mastodon.socialing they Mastodon
@LivingCooki NOT YOU TOO
@MagicLike @LivingCooki β€‹β€‹
@puniko @LivingCooki the post is adjusting depending on from what instance it is viewed and this is like 5th version and it is a literal brainfuck for the chill fedi browsing
@MagicLike @LivingCooki yes. i know this is an adjusting post

@puniko @LivingCooki

@MagicLike is just annoyed that everyone talks about mstdn.social.

@LivingCooki now this one extra scared me
@LivingCooki Pardon, should I consider myself mentioned?
@sils This post always shows the domain and name of the instance it's viewed from
@LivingCooki Uh, nice, didn't notice
Lesbian Liv (@LivingCooki)

@[email protected] This post always shows the domain and name of the instance it's viewed from

void.rehab
@LivingCooki Oh, that is so cool. Doesn't work in Mastodon though.
@trankten It only works on this instance and like a few others

It's from a custom patch set for Iceshrimp (the software this server is running) that was created by the owner of this server
@LivingCooki Thank you for the clarification!! I love this kind of hacks.
@LivingCooki you were the only post to appear on my feed while i am deep in refactoring hell LOL
@LivingCooki this feels like an AIM status message feature in a good way
@LivingCooki i dunno what this is supposed to mean but yes
@LivingCooki Okay... these got me worried for a sec. Looks like I need to look into some config changes. Heh
why are people talking about my instance did I miss something
@Tsuki @LivingCooki we out here amami.paradigm-x.tokyoing
oh I understand now
@Tsuki @LivingCooki I was confused at first too lol

@LivingCooki

Is there any reason why you are specifically memeing my particular instance? The crowdfunding for my disability? My Indy Left politics? My "Vulgar MarXXXist" sex radicalism?

If you're going to meme it, why not join it? Because you're not going to change it. I am who I am, and I say what I mean.

@AnthonyJK This post mentions the instance it's viewed from

If you open it from the original instance you'll see that it doesn't actually mention your instance

@LivingCooki

Then why is my instance mentioned on your last 3 toots? I did not post any of that, and I have sole power over my instance posts. Something is screwy here.

@AnthonyJK again, view it from this instance. I have not written your your instance name specifically

These posts show whatever instance they are viewed from, so because you are viewing them from your own instance, it shows as your instance. If you viewed them from ie mastodon.social they would show up as mastodon.social

See
mastodon.social/@[email protected]/112633607678250375
@AnthonyJK Whoops, I forgot that Mastodon will redirect to this instance so that link won't show it as mastodon.social

But if you click it you'll see that I wrote some special characters that will insert instance names and domains

@LivingCooki

Ahhhh..I see your point. My apologies.

I've already handled the original offender. Thanks for your help and for correcting me.

@AnthonyJK the toot is using placeholders that get replaced by the name of whatever instance you're viewing it from, so it is not actually focused on yours. I was confused for a moment too haha
@MeowKittyWow @AnthonyJK OHHHHHHH omg thank you for this

I was confused why nobody was actually talking about shonk.social in the comments and why shonk.social would be memed about so much.
@LivingCooki @ptrc i am confuse
@q66 @LivingCooki it's the meme where the post has special placeholders that automatically insert your instance name based on where it federates
@LivingCooki "Who up mastodon.ieing they mastodon.ie" is so weird with no content and even weirder with context.
@LivingCooki it worked for me and I was kinda shocked, hahahahahahhaa
@LivingCooki Does anyone know what this is about? Some sort of data-scraping test? I don't get it all - this not the only one.
@hamishtpb it works through authorized fetch

If it's on, any instance that tries to federate has to identify itself
