@rowyn
I hope this introduction goes well.
@rowyn finally someone who prefers Honor to Cassie 😂
@Satsuma Honor: "Oh is THAT why my comment made him so happy? He was a little scary at first, but really quite friendly."
@rowyn
Aww, the sphinx learned something! Alas that unexpected riddle challenges are still obnoxious and should be thwarted.
@kelkyag Sphinx:

@rowyn
You're not even defending access to some important place or thing on Moonbreaker Mountain! Requiring an answer to a riddle to proceed on a quest would at least be traditional. You're plunking yourself down unexpectedly in front of people who're tired and trying to go home. What do you expect them to do if they don't have the answer you want? Are you trying to trap people on the mountain?

Go talk to the kobolds about traps and riddles and sportsmanship.

@kelkyag Sphinx: "But I'm a sphinx! Asking riddles is our whole thing. Riddles are fun."
@rowyn hmmmm... curiouser and curiouser. What strange magic is afoot?
@Annmie Honor: "It's probably Glimmerwood having different boundaries than the forested part. That'd make sense, right? There are some trees on Moonbreaker Mountain, after all. So the boundary wouldn't be, like, a particular density of trees or altitude. It'd be something more arbitrary."

@rowyn
Honor, she knows where you live because she knows where high Rannoc's witch's cottage is, as many locals do.

The flash in Lady A's necklace invokes the same colors as the bright figure in the lake that Honor hexed away from the darker one. Related, or no? I'm tempted to direly over-read and see the darker figure trapped (by that jewelry?) by binding them into an elven form, or perhaps to an elf...

@kelkyag

Seeker: "Oh..."
Honor: "She knew I was a witch without asking, too, but so does everyone else. I'm wearing a witch's hat."
Seeker: "I guess 'therefore you must live at the witch's cottage' is a fair point."

@rowyn
Lady Diane & company knew where to look for the local witch, too, even if they didn't get the witch they expected.

Lady A doesn't seem terribly elf-y. Too much helpful explaining, not enough taunting and self-glorification, or something.

@rowyn
The change in antlers between the two images of Umbral is interesting.
@kelkyag Honor: "I ran out of room for the rest of the antlers on the second page. Also, I'm not very good at painting. 😓 "
@rowyn
I was wondering if Umbral had made his antlers smaller so that he could comfortably get through the doorway. 😀

@rowyn
ACK! A much more thorough attempt at impersonating Umbral? And probably by the same crew.

And/or has someone been tapped to fill in for a missing Umbral as someone was tapped to fill in for a missing Cassie? The witch network apparently expects a witch to leave notes. Umbral IIRC was their predecessor's trainee & designated successor. If Umbral had either, that hasn't been mentioned that I recall.

This stag isn't flat black, but not all of Umbral's animal shapes are.

@kelkyag Yeah, Umbral's stag form was glossy black the time he visited Cassie: https://www.flickr.com/photos/45587160@N08/52821703474/in/album-72177720307338567/

Honor: "Also, my watercolors don't really do "flat" anything. 😓

@rowyn
<reads the next page>

Either that's a REALLY GOOD Umbral impersonation (... or new Dark Ruler...) -- if he's back, why hadn't he seen Cassie yet? -- or [someone|That Elf] nabbed Cassie while both of the people most likely to visit socially were away. Or ...?

Honor turning up was very well timed for his first patient. (Witch needed.) I'm increasingly curious about the witch network. I hope Honor doesn't get the short end of the stick in this mess.

@rowyn
Buh, Umbral got back very recently and did just come to see her. <smacks self upside the head>

@kelkyag Umbral: "Seeing Cassie was my top priority the moment I returned! Also, she pointed out before I left that I haven't turned up at her cottage very often, so I needed to rectify that."

Umbral: "Except that SOME WITCH appears to think that it's HIS COTTAGE now." 😠

@rowyn
Some witch was present in a timely manner to help two patients Cassie wasn't available to assist, and might have more useful things to tell you if you don't scare him too badly.

But I'm afraid Honor's already tripped the "more than one patient in a week is bad luck" trigger.

@kelkyag Honor: "Oh NO is THAT what happened?" D:
@rowyn
I hope not, but it's something Cassie mentioned from time to time. One way or another you've tripped into a lot more mess than is fair for a brand new witch.

@rowyn
The darker figure could be Cassie, maybe? The description's plausible. If so the bright one might be an elf (or even That Elf) and in this context that looks like rather bad news.

I hope Honor is okay! No drowning, please! Seeker's not going to have an easy time hauling Honor out.

@rowyn that shadow looks worryingly (or maybe encouragingly?) Cassie-like I hope she and Honor are okay!
@rowyn well thats ominous
@Satsuma Honor: "Also alarming." 😓

@rowyn
Well, that's concerning and potentially a trap. And Honor seems far less wary than Cassie.

... it will be really weird if the new witch winds up rescuing Cassie after she's been inexplicably missing for long enough for the garden to be unruly. Much better than Cassie staying missing, though.

Might Miss Smoke help orient Honor (if he ever investigates her cauldron) or did she bind herself too thoroughly to Cassie for that?
