Your GPS Is Wrong
@sdw 😁 You see loads of those in the UK, my favorite are the ones where they feel the need to keep adding explanations and warnings…clearly for folks who don’t listen the first time.
@_Davidsmith @sdw similarly on Vancouver’s North Shore
@gnb Looks like public road to me, why no access then?
Bevor Sie zu Google Maps weitergehen

@gnb Wow, beautiful surroundings.

Didn't realize the road would lead to a potable water intake. Definitely should be prohibited for general public.

@cek the people who work there do have to get there somehow
@sdw I'm getting definite 'Pacific Drive' vibes from this one.
@sdw (Feels like myself trying to find a good Brazilian Mastodon server...) 😅 🤦🏻‍♂️
@sdw
Perhaps bad GPS more often than one might expect in certain areas at random times.
@sdw #ALT4you
A dark and moody pine forest is split down the middle of the frame by a shiny wet black top road with bright lane divider marks. There's a construction site display on the right hand side that reads "YOUR GPS IS WRONG" in an eerie orange glow that is also reflecting off the pavement.
@sdw i wanna own a sign like this to troll drivers
@sdw Be honest... who would keep going?
@Space6host @sdw Lol, before I read that I was fondly remembering the foggy night I got lost in the mountains on a road trip to NYC, when my GPS kept dying over and over. Toddler in the back seat sleeping, fighting to stay awake after 20 hours of driving, steep dropoffs and plenty of deer running around, both terrified and excited. Good times. I'd totally forge right ahead and idly wonder if my pocket change would be enough to get me out of any tight situations I might find.

@sdw

How wrong?
As wrong as the number of incorrect chatHeBeGebe answers returned?

@sdw I need one of these for the road west of my house, which has a locked gate from the city blocking it. Delivery drivers go that way all the damn time even though my instructions tell them not to, and then they get mad because they have to take another 12 minutes to go the right way.
@sdw oh man I love this :)
@sdw
You see a lot of those, as handwritten signs, around here in rural parts of Northern California.
@sdw Humor aside, this photo is lovely.
@Fishrock @sdw Heh. Yeah usually the GPS receiver is within reasonble position error if it can see the sky. It's who or what is planning the routing with that where most errors come in. "I think we missed a turn..." yeah that happens. But if Google tells you to drive over a cliff or Apple finds a hidden route to tell you to drive onto an airport runway, don't do it. (Each has really done those goofs.)
@sdw And just like that I found my new desktop background
