I dont understand furry hate

you take some people who make up a statistically significant share of critical infrastructure maintainers, and you spit on them?

genuinely, why

sure, maybe dislike them for their odd eccentric tendencies and the likes, or whatever kink you're not into and repulsed by

but the bare concept does not call for such a hate, it does not need to mean that everything "bad" trickles down

30 or more years ago gay people were entirely stereotyped from their sexual angle, and while that is still prevalent today, its now just Understandable that someone has a gay husband

just, urgh

@ShadowJonathan Summarized: Don't yuck someone else's yum, yo.
@ShadowJonathan Honestly I think at this point furry hate is just queer hate wearing a furry hat.
@dragonarchitect @ShadowJonathan Speaks the one whose peers promote ukrainian hate, antisemitism and sometimes homophobia as well (statistically there's as much queers as everywhere else).
@ShadowJonathan generally, disguised queerphobia.
@ShadowJonathan because these are the same kind of people that primarily think of it as a kink and make a big deal of furries being around children when most furries literally just want to. be a dog or whatever.

Honestly it's the horrible people's loss if they wanna be assholes and not meet some of the most interesting people I know

@ShadowJonathan The old reason I've heard of is furries freely sharing art (Disney doesn't want that), the newer reason is it being a dogwhistle for queerphobia and ableism. (As if hateful people weren't open with these.)

I'm not verifying this.

@ShadowJonathan Some people generally tend to fear things that they don't know or things that fall outside the "norm", this may lead to them creating preconceptions and/or falling for other people's preconceptions that generally fuels even further their fear. This may result in people that call furries zooph*les, sex freaks and even mentally challenged. Which sucks ass because once they have formed their "opinion" they can't let go of it 90% of the time even when presented with factual knowledge.
@amgab @ShadowJonathan or sometimes they're 12 year olds

@ShadowJonathan it's the same irrational seed that inspires bigotry along race, sex, ethnic, gender, abelist, etc. lines, with a dash of severe irony poisoning (the deep fear of being earnest or "cringe"), added on top of the fact that we are, genuinely, weird. But weird =/= bad.

Does anyone have that old Tumblr post arguing that furry hate is a red flag for other bigotries?

@ShadowJonathan "statistically significant" != significant

tl;dr 23 hours ago I made a short post about them. Their bare concept is anti-human, and it _will_ only get worse from that.

We (as "woke") fight against discrimination like racism or ableism, so people could be themselves. Furry instead is about hiding themselves behind animal personas and have personality around it. Just like with 4chan-like anonymity, it more often than not results into heinous acts. You don't see anime fans wearing uncanny-valley masks of their (poorly) designed characters, you mostly can see a human behind it, and if they done something very wrong - see a face to punch.
