I don’t know why this is so hard to understand. 2014 Russia invaded and occupied Crimea and some folks told us to let them have it so there will be peace. A few years later they invade again and now these same folks (and even more, because now it suddenly IS a war) say the same thing. ā€œLet Russia have it so we can have peaceā€. Russia wants all of Ukraine and then even more. Why do so many people not understand this?
russia and usnato both want ukraine. I'm curious, what makes one's wants legitimate and reasonable, but not the other's?

@lxo @jwildeboer
Noone can be this fucking stupid. So, I'm guessing troll.

Nevertheless, on the off-chance this is genuine:
- Russia inviting Ukraine to join BRICS would be legitimate and reasonable. Same as NATO inviting them to join. Or the EU.
- Russia sending tanks in a neighboring country is neither legitimate, nor reasonable. Acts of war seldom are.

It's not the desire to improve their world standing that separates Russia and the west. It's the means they're using to obtain it.

@lxo @jwildeboer Saying "NATO wants Ukraine" is ass-backwards. Ukraine wants NATO. Ukraine's fate should be decided by *Ukraine*. What NATO and Russia want is irrelevant, Ukraine is a sovereign country.
that may be the case now, but history shows usnato has long been pulling ukraine away from russia and into nato, and there have been fake treaties, pressure and finally a provoked proxy war that forces their hand
