Stop using Brave Browser

Seriously.

@ThePlant In my opinion, Firefox is the best

At the request of Russia’s federal censor, the Mozilla Foundation, the entity behind Firefox, is blocking censorship circumvention add-ons for its browser, including ones developed specifically to help those in Russia bypass state censorship. https://theintercept.com/2024/06/12/mozilla-firefox-russia-censorship-blocked/

@MartinBe @ThePlant Very disappointing to read this
@PictoPulse356 @ThePlant Yeap.. I was shocked and scared as heck by reading this article today morning. As well as the entire community around this browser. It is a very heavy shot in the own knees for Mozilla.
@MartinBe @ThePlant I have always used Firefox for a very long time ago, I didn't see this coming. It is one of the biggest open source projects, so I didn't expect this
@PictoPulse356 @ThePlant Same here. I migrated to FF from Chromium few years ago due to the entire google bullshit what they are doing. I just wanted to have nothing absolutely common with that company. You know, degoogled myself totally. The only reasonable choice at the point was FF. But now I am not sure anymore about the Mozilla being trustworthy as the foundation, and/or browser creator. As I told already to my wife, one simple click and they can do with FF users completely what they want.
@MartinBe @ThePlant I understand, have same situation not too many options out there open-source and privacy respecting. A lot of small browsers are good but could potentially have issues with some webapages. But I will consider mull browser for example, or cromite.
@PictoPulse356 @ThePlant The main problem is that they are also google code based ones. The browser name can differ but under the hood that's still google owned and designed code. They can do exact same as Mozilla did. This is the most important issue here in the whole topic. Control on the browser engine and its code. No one should be able to push some "control kill switch" on and have total control on the browser and its engine. Such important apps/code should be only/always community owned.
