@apontious what are your thoughts on Candela Obscura? I ran the starter scenario that’s included with the Quick Start Guide twice.
@k0njur3r Then I’d say you’ve run it enough to have your own opinions! What do *you* think of it?
@apontious My feelings are complicated. I like the premise, and the setting, but struggled with the mechanics. One of my players put it best: it feels like a game that’s trying to appear rules light, but isn’t hitting the mark with clarity of language and simplicity of mechanics in favor of Roleplaying. I’ve only been acquainted with the quick start - my impressions from that caused me to lose interest before the game came out. But that’s why I’m curious about your opinions, since I feel like you might have a more informed opinion about it.

@k0njur3r Interesting!

I tend to play games with heavy RP, minimal combat, and minimal rolls. Rolls are still important, though!

Candela has worked very well for me with that, but yeah, I can see it not working for others.

So much is undefined.

There's no combat sequence. No NPC stats! No NPC actions!

Everything happens in response to what the PCs do, including enemy reactions and attacks.

Takes some time to get your mind around.

@apontious I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying it. I love the aesthetic and the concept. I’m a big fan of Delta Green (which is similarly RP-focused) and it kind of struck me - setting-wise - as a cross between DG, Call of Cthulhu, and D&D (in terms of the fantasy aspects of D&D).
