Few things in technology excites me more than an amazing computer I have never heard of before - especially one with pedigree.

Many people take a casual glance at this machine and say, "Isn't that an overgrown word processor?" And one could certainly think so, in part because of its keyboard-centric operation, but mostly from the utterly uncomprehending way Canon advertised it in 1987

I was >< this close to getting a Canon Cat off eBay about five years ago, and was outbid at the last minute. I was pretty bummed. What a beautiful, beautiful machine.

I was infatuated enough I even investigated getting a modern keyboard with a touchpad underneath with mouse buttons above the touchpad so I could write an editor and map those buttons as leap keys.

…I might have a problem.
