A few weeks ago I did a TEDx talk, it’s finally been published!

In it I talk about why so much tech is bad for society and what we can do to push back.

Trying to view a video on Invidious and Piped, and getting:

"Got error: "Sign in to confirm that you're not a bot""

Google / YouTube are cracking down ever more on alternative interfaces.

Trying #MPV / #ytdl next ... OK, that works!

@CatherineFlick

@dredmorbius ah boo :(

@CatherineFlick Worked through it, but it's been ... interesting watching Google's evolving response.

Catching up on glassholes and Wayfarer's selling out.

Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" reads differently now than it did in 1984, "she's got her Wayfarers on ...".

@dredmorbius So ridiculous.

d******s.s******s still works last I checked.

@dredmorbius I can't disclose the instance uncensored but it is on the instance list. I don't want scrapers to find out and thus losing one of the last working instances.

@JackRacc I take it that's a Piped or Invidious instance then?

I ... suspect ... that this is another temporary outage for Invidious, given that mpv seems to work and Piped works ... more often. Though this may be IP-based rate-limiting.

@dredmorbius Potentially. It's both actually. They wrote their own code to cycle IPv6 addresses.

@JackRacc They == ???

Invidious, Piped, MPV, YouTube?

@dredmorbius The instance I had to censor. Again, it's in the Piped Instances list.
