I think I can say it now.
The hardware part of the Screen10 is now complete for this version.

I can wear it, I can manage to see though it (although a bit blurry), and it looks SO FREAKING COOL

Now, onto making it easy to control and some extra fun stuff

Also yeah, I think I'll settle on calling it the "Screen10" from now on instead of whatever convoluted combo I kept changing and using before 😁

After some extra tests, using remote desktop and some debugging options, the battery lasts two hours and doesn't seem to get super warm!

I call that a success 😁

Someone suggested the idea of playing a game on the screen like a 2 player mario kart...

Split screen gameplay is a good idea!

My setup uses python... I'm sure there is a way to make a simple pong game πŸ‘€

Need to find out how to do this so I can rock up to a meet and ask them if they wanna play Mario Kart on my face.

@Xantw0 Do you meanβ€” like this?

(It's open source, just ask!)

@stage7 Oh you bet this was the first thing I had in mind when I saw/had the idea πŸ‘€
@stage7 @Xantw0 Something something turn nipples into potentiometers
@RinaVolpina @stage7 😡
Stop having good ideas 🀯
@stage7 @Xantw0 woah, what screen mod is that?
@Xantw0 what display did you use, and are you going to make a tutorial? THATS SO FREAKING COOL

@nikolaus Thanks πŸ₯°
I plan to release the files someday once I'm happy with a version of it.

It is a costly and tedious process, but a good challenge for tinkerers 😁

@Xantw0
Holy fuck this is awesome!!!
@Xantw0 such an amazing project
@Xantw0 what are you doing control wise, ESP32? Just thinking what cool things you could do with BLE/LoRAN/WiFi if you need high throughput.

@PupGhost Right now, a simple 8BitDo micro gamepad that I need to configure a bit (that what I used to changed screens in the video)

But I also have a Rii wireless keyboard for more complex stuff like writing but since clarity is not an option in my vision, I might focus on simple control for now

@Xantw0 how’re you driving the screens out of interest, I’ve got an idea for using a flexible OLED, but the screen control seems far too complex for an MCU without a full graphics stack?

@PupGhost The filter box contains a Raspberry Pi 4 that runs a Python script using Pyglet as a graphic library to show stuff, animations and video.

It's all using circular screen that might be for cheap VR headset, and I got REALLY lucky on the outside ones that matches PERFECTLY the lens diameter.

Not sure about the battery life, but my estimate is: short.

@Xantw0 ahhh I see, that is a very clever way of doing it and gets you all the comms you need. Plus working in python is a lot easier than working in a system language manually doing graphics.

That is extremely lucky. Half the battle in these projects is finding the right components.

Eh, nothing stopping you modding a hose to hide a cable to a big battery backpack for longer mobile ware eg events, would probably even enhance the drone look.

@Xantw0 It is wonderful !!! Your level in crafting is so high !!
@Xantw0 Hol, that's amazing! Love the fake error screen lol. Do you actually look through the screens??
@wildrikku There's a screen on the inside displaying the camera feed! Kind of like a VR Headset passthrough... But worse 🀣 but "usable"
@Xantw0 yeah, I was wondering if you actually made some AR glasses like the HoloLens :D but wow, still very impressive you managed to get it usable with a video feed!

@wildrikku I was suggested to remove the back light of the screens to make it see through, so that could be an option to help vision.

But really, finding a comfortable setup for the screens and lenses on the inside of the mask will be my priority for the next iteration 😁

@Xantw0 I am curious how that would look like, looking through the display, but yeah, removing the back light not only removes the light but also a huge part of the electronics. Probably not usable together with the video feed due to the delay.
In any case, I would like to see what more you come up with :)
