Surfacing briefly because it's been a hot minute.

Played through Aeon's End: Legacy with my friend Dan in two weekends flat. That was a LOT of fun, and made for us two custom, unique breach magi that we can use in (re-)playing the New Age box and then the Outcasts campaign.

All in all, loved it. Tempted to do a custom box to hold our magi. Planning an expedition for the two of us for the next time we get to play.

@llanion I think the legacy characters are a bit overpowered for regular games, but then again, I suck at the game, so maybe I should try it☺

@jeeger
It's a fair point - I have no idea how they'll play out, and really can't unless I play a two-handed game or two, which is something I dislike (when I play solo, which is relatively often, I play the True Solo rules that make the player their own ally- which can make some cards and mages, including my dedicated support Legacy mage, wildly busted powerful).

I'm willing to play with it and see, though, frankly. If they're too strong, we can pare back bits of their legacy abilities.

@llanion Cool, how much were you able to customize the characters?

@Vidyala Four different mages in the box and the player mats are double sided (male and female body for each of the four). You start the game with 4xCrystal+Spark twice and only Breaches I, II, III (3-breach doesn't have +1 damage).

You get to create either a Gem or Spell of your own, with four options for effects on either, and then later can add a second effect (my spell, "Innervate", was "Focus any player's breach" and then "& you gain a charge").

@Vidyala
Later you get an ability (choose from one of eight options) and then later can add a kicker to it (again from one of eight options). You get a fourth breach (classic +1 damage) and you get equipment (static abilities you can have, like the Tier 3 Treasures from New Age) and can add a kicker to your equipment.

Finally, you can either choose to go with a 3-crystal 2-spark mage or a 1-spark 4-crystal mage. Those alter the starting positions of your breaches.

@Vidyala The recommendation from the game is that when you play the Legacy mages outside of Legacy, you ignore the Equipment effects. Because this was made before New Age, we're planning to play it as "When we get a T3 Treasure, we can choose to use our own equipment instead of the other options".
@Vidyala And now, outside of spoilers- the next time we play we're either going to do a custom expedition, or we're going to tag along on the storyline from the New Age, Into the Wild, and Outcasts preparatory to playing Legacy of Gravehold.
@llanion :D It’s so awesome that you have a friend who’s really into it with you!
@Vidyala Most of the game I like to play with multiple people but am perfectly happy to play solo - I did NOT want to play Legacy that way.
@llanion Oh yeah, I can’t blame you there. Getting invested in a legacy game is just more fun with someone else, too. You two really blasted through it 😂
@llanion That’s really neat! I love that this was part of the legacy setup, to make your own OC. :D
