A cyber truck had a major malfunction and stopped working because it went into a car wash without being in “car wash” mode. The joke is that Cybertrucks cannot get wet.
Ah… If I remember correctly; not being in a carwash mode caused the screen to freeze and because of a bug the hard reset took hours instead of minutes. The car was back up and running the next day and I believe the bug has been patched as well
That’s not something that should happen to a car that is on the road.

It did not. The vehicle was in the owner’s carage. I believe it was water in the charging port that caused the front screen to freeze up. Everything else was working normally.
That doesn’t improve things.
And by production car on the road I mean “by a car that is in production and allowed to drive on the road” though I admit it was vague and easy to take literally in that regard.
Unacceptable behavior for a vehicle.
Personally I would enjoy spending $100k+ to get to be the beta tester for a half-baked product

experbiawow. does the factory that made it have absolutely no quality control processes in place? I would be embarrassed to own a vehicle that did that, and more than a little worried about it’s safety.

Hate is a toxic emotion. It poisons your own mind but leaves the target of it unaffected.
Also as I don’t believe in free will, hate is an uncompatible concept in my world view anyway. It assumes the person I’m directing my anger towards is personally responsible for who they are. In my view they could not be otherwise.

Just a heads up that this topic makes some people feel really uncomfortable to think about.
It’s because I don’t think the “self” exists either. Without a self there’s nothing that even could make decisions to begin with. I don’t believe in some “entity” or a “sould” somewhere inside our heads, behind our faces, looking out into the world and making independent decisions. We’re not authoring our thoughts and actions. They’re just appearing. You don’t know what you’re going to think next, and you can’t think of a thought before you think it. You can even observe this happening in real time by just paying close enought attention.
We’re biological beings that consist of matter, and matter obeys the laws of physics. “Free will” as in “I could’ve done otherwise” doesn’t make any logical sense to me. If we could go back in time we’d all do the same things all over again. That’s how deterministic universe works. The key factor here is consciousness. It feels like something to be. The sense of free will is probably useful belief for survival, but for the very least I’d argue that it’s not like most people think it is.
That’s an interesting take. Strikes me as a bit nihilistic, but I’m sure this is the most surface of explanations lacking the depth of concept to really get the idea across. I can’t say it jives with me, but I have heard less reasonable notions.
Yeah I find it interesting how many see the idea as negative. I find it freeing in many ways and it helps me make much better sense of the world and people, I think.

Because the stainless steel is not stainless and a protective coating is optional, not standard like… you know, on every other car.
Well, it’s very meaningful to continue to support your emotional support corporations. They need us as much as we need them. That’s why you need to buy the product, and the “continued use” package. They’re not charging extra for standard things just to charge extra. It’s about the continued closeness in your relationship with daddy Tesla.
Stainless steel that gets coated is no longer stainless steel. Stainless steel requires exposure to sufficient oxygen in order to maintain the protective oxide layer.
These are rudder bolts from the same gudgeon on my sailboat. The black stuff is anoxic corrosion.

And will get stained by tree sap. You should avoid the extreme use-case of parking near trees.
It’s also why I love the fact that it has a tent accessory, despite being a car that can’t handle being outside.
Except it doesn’t. It’s not the body panels that are rusting. It’s the airborne iron particles (mostly) from brake rotors that land on the stainless steel and react with it causing rust but it’s actually just surface contamination and cleans up rather easily. This is in no way issue exclusive to the Cybertruck. Fallout remover is a commonly used product among car detailers. It just doesn’t react like that on a painted surface.

I’ve seen people putting wraps on them as well in my city. Probably trying to hide the rust since it’s rains quite a bit here
