After 2 days of cursing, @alatiera got graphics driver working with Flatpak apps in Asahi

@sonny @alatiera It must have been quite dangerous.
@CleoMenezesJr @sonny
If @alatiera wears a helmet even for brand new hardware like this, I can imagine him wearing a complete hazmat suit when trying out my desktop computer 😏
@nekohayo @CleoMenezesJr @sonny @alatiera Who knows it might suck all the breathable air away for cooling purposes
@sonny @alatiera stuff like this is so painful. Just getting flatpak apps runnijg with an intel graphics card on Ubuntu is neigh impossible sometimes.
@tyalie what kind of super new intel GPUs do you have?
Here the problem is that the drivers for the new Macbook GPUs are brand new not even completed yet....

@lw64 Not even brand new - rather that GPU forwarding in flatpak is broken relatively often due to sandboxing restrictions.

Although they have bettered themselves a bit

@tyalie Usually GUI apps have by default forwarding of GPUs fully enabled. It's called "dri" in the sandbox permissions.
But maybe it's also the case of you having old software, for example due to an LTS distro :)
@sonny @alatiera Cool! Is it possible to explain to a more-or-less layperson why it didn't work out of the box?

@sonny @alatiera @gnome

You literally see how the driver is working 😂
