When I was in the Marine Corps, it was the opposite. Sometimes, when things got boring and there wasn't a lot of work to be done, leadership would look for outside jobs to be done, or work from other units, like cleaning bathrooms, wiping down every single baseboard in an entire building, ensuring that all grassblades in the lawn are the same height etc. You can't hide. But you can run, because they would ONLY take the first people they found.
