🇦🇺 Australia: COVID keeps killing more people every month than flu does in a year.

“In other words, there were three times as many confirmed Covid-19 cases as influenza cases,” Adrian Esterman, professor of biostatistics at the University of South Australia, told TND.

“And the death rate associated with Covid-19 was about four times as high as for influenza.”

He said it was “completely crazy that face masks are not mandatory in all health care, hospital and aged-care settings”.

Decent article on the whole, but i call into question the statement they made "...each year the wave is smaller than the last". I don't think so. I think this is more likely to be a testament to the fact that each year, it is being tested for less and less...

Does anyone know of a report somewhere of “average number of sick days per capita per year”?

It's only anecdotal, and may be subject to confirmation bias, but I'm sure I'm seeing more colleagues off sick for longer than I have done in the past. (It's also possible it's just because I can see status in Slack.)
