#Sailfish 5 in August/September to be split into #SailfishCore (embedded, headless/IoT), and #SailfishOS (phones, tablets).

Also, a new community phone to be shipped with #Sailfish5 available for pre-order for 299€ (shipped in August).

@cybette Uhh, are there any details about the Community phone available? Asking for a friend :D
@stdevel should be on https://shop.jolla.com/ soon(tm)!
Jolla shop

@stdevel I think it just went live! Refresh!
@cybette @stdevel Thanks for the info! Buuuuut, did they talk about this subscription model for updates the website shows??

@mazhe @stdevel

I think there'll be more details on the website and they're doing Q&A on the live stream which you can check now (or rewatch later).

@cybette Interesting. What’s you take on this?
@stdevel I'm intrigued but need to consider it more for a subscription model. However since it comes with 12-months subscription to start with, it's reasonably priced to try things out.

@cybette @stdevel

The main problem I see is a dated hardware in a probably plastic body. Slower than Xperia II, no 5G, etc. Hardly any incentive to downgrade from III with added subscription after the first year.

@bundyo @stdevel I think it's more suited for new #SailfishOS users at a lower price point and includes a year of subscription etc. so it lowers the barrier of entry (they don't need to root the device themselves and flash the OS and risk bricking the phone).

For many current Sailfish users it'll be a downgrade like you said. I might get it for my parents to try it out :)
