Looks like an interesting art exhibit, in New York

“One of the more curious encounters in the history of #ModernArt took place in September 1945 at a psychiatric hospital in southern #France.

A pall of ash still hung over Europe when Jean #Dubuffet, a prosperous wine merchant-turned-painter, showed up at the hilltop village of Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole and met the asylum’s unconventional Catalan director, Francesc #Tosquelles.”

Images from unquiet minds: the intersection of psychiatry and art

A show of ‘art brut’ at the American Folk Art Museum illustrates how a psychiatric hospital became an artistic incubator

Reminds me of favorite old movie

“King of Hearts (Le Roi de cœur) is a 1966 French/Italian international co-production comedy-drama film directed by Philippe de Broca and starring #AlanBates and Geneviève Bujold.

The film is set in a small town in #France near the end of World War I. As the Imperial #German Army retreats, they booby trap the whole town to explode.

The locals flee and, left to their own devices, a gaggle of cheerful lunatics escape the asylum and take over the town — thoroughly confusing the lone Scottish soldier who has been dispatched to defuse the bomb”
