Just finished rooting and de-googling my new phone, the cat S22 Flip. Holy crap that took way longer than any phone I've done before, and this thing had an already unlocked bootloader that didn't restrict me...a factory reset installed around 250 services tracking location, ad services, etc and sending stuff live to their servers....once I got all of those out of the install image the phone literally ran like 5x faster....

It's actually a pretty nice phone, don't know what psychopath set up the defaults for the keypad, probably the same one who thought installing a few gigs of adware on a borderline dumb phone was a good idea. (I mean, FFS, you can't T9 on the pad by default, you have to press a key then use the arrows to select which letter you want, first thing I fixed...)

@raptor85 Which de-googled ROM did you flash?

What was behind your choice to get a "dumbphone"? Less dependency on tech?

@imjms737 It's not a "dumbphone", it's just android in a smaller form factor and actual buttons, I was actually able to just straight copy all my apk's straight from my old lg v30. I don't play games or watch video on my phone so I don't exactly need a powerhouse, just zef/chargepont apps, my security system, and firefox is all I ever use.

As for which rom nothing really supports it so I just rooted and de-googled the stock v29 image for this phone.
