First lesson: the farmer's market here has no bicycle racks, and the folks in charge have ZERO idea what to do with them, despite the "NO BIKES" sign. They clarified and said bikes are fine, as long as you walk them. "NO ONE HAS ASKED US THAT BEFORE" is what they told me. They ended up letting me stash my bike next to their info booth while I walked around. #BikeTooter #Transportation
Thadd Selden@ai6yr This is why I love that there's a bike valet at the Sacramento midtown farmer's market. A dedicated booth where you just drop your bike off and they watch it for you while you shop.

last time i was at a group ride i was remarking to ppl how crazy one often feels when arriving someplace after a bike ride. like, tryin to calm down after a massive adrenaline shot. my bud was like "yeah - after you just got done fighting for your life?"
@rustoleumlove @thadd I prefer to avoid the adrenaline rush, LOL. I figured the first time through an area on bicycle I'd discover some issues I had not considered before. At the moment, it looks like it's worth it to bridge the non-bike connected part of town via a very short bus ride, just to avoid the traffic risks.
@ai6yr @thadd i like to avoid it too. but the 1st few times goin somewhere on a bike, it's usually a lot.
i get it. i ride outta my way, sometimes a half mile +, for calmer routes. but sometimes there arent any. or, you get a nasty surprise on a route that SHOULD be totally chill - a frequent issue in Chicago -- w ppl blocking bike lanes entirely, sometimes for long stretches, creating literally deadly scenarios
i can take the challenge. barely.. i can only imagine how newb cyclists feel
