Being efficient can increase profit, but it also means not being resilient, adaptable, and forgiving. Businesses that are efficient tend also to overwork their employees because the demands on the business are always to be resilient, adaptable, and forgiving. The only entity that demands efficiency is the investor.
@mralancooper 100% this. It's how I think of "just in time" manufacturing. That's great if...everything shows up "just in time." But seems like you're vulnerable to disruptions. Software and business is no different IMO.
@mralancooper Such a great point. There needs to be slack, extra resources, time to communicate and teach. Maybe the problem is being supremely and only efficient. But there are often a lot of bullshit tasks that don’t need to be required.
